Motion Detector & Sensor

During the installation of your home security system, you can select which rooms you would prefer to have a motion detector installed (or the installer can recommend areas).

Uses of the Motion Sensor

When the sensor is installed, it will detect any motion that is present in the room. If there is any motion detected while the sensor is activated, the alarm will automatically sound, notify you and your family or neighbors that there is suspicious activity - ADT can also notify the police at the same time.

We often hear the question: "Is the sensor always active, or can I choose when I want it on and off?

The answer: you have control over your motion detector and all aspects of your security system. You can activate or deactivate your motion sensor by consulting your control keypad. During times that you're occupying rooms with motion sensors, you can obviously deactivate them. Other times, when you are not at home or sleeping, you can activate the motion detector sensors.

How does the motion detector work with pets?

You do not need to worry about your pets activating your motion sensor. The motion detector was specifically designed to ignore any motion detected from small to medium size house pets; this ensures you will not be woken up to the sound of a false alarm in the middle of the night.
