Compare Brink's Home Security vs. ADT Security

Brink's Home Security is now Broadview Security

When it comes to security for your home, there are two big names that come to almost everyone's mind: ADT Security and Brinks (now known as Broadview). Many people realize it is crucial to protect their homes with a security system, but don't know which company to choose. This article has some history and current offerings from both companies to help you decide.

Brink's Security was originally established in the late 1800's as an armored transport company, however they have offered more than just armored car service up until recently. Brinks began providing security systems for homes in 1983 when Brink's Home Security, Inc was founded. In June 2009, Brink's Home Security changed its brand name to Broadview Security, separating the company into two separately publicly traded entities.

The Brinks Broadview security system is hardwired directly into the walls of your home (although additional wireless options are available), this is referred to as a wired system and offers reliable operation, however holes and wires must be run throughout the house. This system includes 24 hour monitoring, two door or window sensors, motion detector, interior siren, master control panel, and Broadview Security Yard sign and window decals. Additional upgraded equipment can also be purchased.

ADT Monitoring Company History

ADT is number one for home security in the United States by volume and has been in the home security business for over 100 years. The company monitors home security systems from five monitoring centers. Most ADT monitored systems are wireless allowing many different configuration options.

ADT monitored systems offer a number of options not offered by Brinks Broadview for you to choose from. Two-way voice communications uses CellGuard, which allows your family to communicate with the ADT monitoring center directly through your control panel without the need for a land telephone line. A free keychain remote is also available with most security systems.

ADT Guarantee

ADT will make every available attempt to satisfy an installation, service or equipment problem that arises within the first six months as an ADT customer. ADT will refund the installation charge and/or monitoring fees paid during the initial six month period. Certain restrictions apply.
